Heroes of Chile’s independence

– Jose Miguel Carrera fought for years in order for Chile to attain permanent independence from the Spanish crown.
– Santiago Bueras participated in the battle of Cancha Rayada and Maipu. In this last battle he was struck by a bullet, which caused his death.
– Juan Jose Carrera accompanied his brother Jose Miguel in his political activities. He also participated in Yerbas Buenas, the siege of Chillan and the disaster of Rancagua.
– Ramon Freire fought in several battles of the Independence war and was then supreme director and president of the Republic.

Heroes of the war against the Peruvian Bolivian Confederation

– Manuel Baquedano participated in the battles of Portada de Guias, Matucana, Buin bridge and the battle of Yungay.
– Manuel Bulnes achieved the most important victory of the war against the Peruvian Bolivian Confederation on January 20th, 1839, in Yungay.

Heroes of the Pacific War

– Juan de Dios Aldea accompanied Arturo Pratt when he boarded the Huascar in the naval battle of Iquique (May 21st, 1879).
– Ignacio Carrera Pinto lost his life along with 77 other soldiers from the 4th company of the Chacabuco Battalion at the battle of La Concepcion (July 9th and 10th, 1882).
– Carlos Condell achieved the surrender of Peruvian frigate Independencia at the naval battle of Punta Gruesa (May 21st, 1879).
