Mozambique is located in southeast Africa and is bounded to the north by Tanzania, to the east by the Indian Ocean, to the south and southwest by South Africa and Swaziland, to the northwest by Zimbabwe, and to the west by Malawi. Most of its territory is below sea level (230 meters), and it stretches along the vastest coastal plain in Africa. Monte Binga is the highest peak, at 2,436 meters above sea level.

Among its many rivers, the Zambezi stands out, with 820 km long. Mozambique shares Lake Nyasa with Malawi.
Its climate is tropical and its temperature has few variations.

The population is mostly of Bantu descent, and only 36% lives in urban areas. Agriculture is the foundation of Mozambique’s economy, contributing more than two fifths of the GDP.
