Myths and legends of the south zone

– The Chica de San Pedro, Tres Pascualas and Redonda lagoons, located in Concepcion, are related to three tragic legendary tales.
– Between the las Raices mountain range and the Cautin river valley, there supposedly lived a giant mapuche named Pehuencura.
– According to the mapuches, the deluge and the origin of Earth as we know it came about from a confrontation between Tren Tren Vilu and Cai Cai Vilu.

Myths and legends of Chiloe

– The Caleuche is a ghost ship that sails along the seas of Chiloe and the south of our country.
– The Basilisco is a creature that has the head of a rooster and a long neck like a serpent. It is born from a small egg that is incubated by an old chicken or a red rooster.
– In the Quicavi cave there lives the Supreme Warlock. This layer is guarded by the Imbunche.

Myths and legends of the far south

– Tradition says that if you touch or kiss the toe of the Patagonian Indian (found in the monument to Magellan), one receives protection and help and it is possible to return to Punta Arenas.
– It is said that in the south of the country, somewhere in the mountains, there is supposedly an enchanted, opulent city.
– The Ice Flower is allegedly in the never melting ice of the southern peaks. It is sought after by shepherds in order to give it to their wives or girlfriends.
