Se cuenta que en tiempos remotos había dos espíritus muy poderosos encarnados en gigantescas serpientes: uno era Cai Cai (espíritu de las aguas), que agitaba el mar y odiaba al ser humano, y el otro, Treg-treg (espíritu de la Tierra), que vivía en la cumbre de un cerro y le tenía afecto al hombre.
