Almost all its territory is a plain and its highest altitudes are all in the central limestone plateau. The country lacks rivers or lakes, as almost all of it is an immense desert, sandy in the south, but otherwise rocky.
The climate is arid, with hot summers and relatively hot winters. Qatar’s economy is based on its reserves of petroleum and natural gas.
